"Nyame Biribi Wo Soro"
“God, there is something in the heavens.”
At New Horizon Special School, the Adinkra symbol of hope Nyame Biribi Wo Soro meaning “God is in the heavens” serves as a gentle reminder of divine providence and the assurance that prayers are heard. This powerful emblem reflects our belief that every child carries a promise placed within them by God, and that their future is filled with possibility. It calls us to nurture each child’s potential with faith, compassion, and the unwavering belief that something greater is always ahead.

Founded in 1972, the New Horizon Special. School is a private, purpose-built non-profit special needs day institution. The school is located in the Osu/Cantoments area of Accra. We provide education, vocational training, and employment opportunities to children and adults with Special Needs. Our students live with conditions such as Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, and Cerebral Palsy. To meet their needs, our programs target the intellectual, creative, physical, social, behavioral, and emotional needs of every student. We center our curriculum around Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and select Therapies so as to develop each student’s potential to the full. Our Founder, Mrs. Salome Francois believed that every special child deserved to be celebrated, and given access to education, health, creativity, happiness. She would often say, ‘No Child Should Be Left Behind’. As a result of her Vision and Leadership we have supported and positively impacted more than 3,000 individuals, using structured learning programs, life skills development, and vocational training.
